Children's Hospital visit puts life in perspective By Denny Hamlin

My trip to the Children's Hospital of Richmond, Va., on Thursday to kick of FedEx's "Wear Your Heart on Your Helmet" campaign couldn't have come at a better time.
We're donating $25,000 to the hospital and are going to run a paint scheme of a helmet that 11 of the kids in the hospital designed, beginning with the Richmond race next weekend.
They gave sketches of helmets to all the kids in the hospital. Whoever they feel has the best design gets it painted on the helmet that I'll wear in the race. It's a pretty cool deal.
Drivers do appearances all the time and they don't always look forward to it, but this is so uplifting to see some of the kids and how happy they are that you spend time with them.
That's not work at all. That's something I would do in my spare time.
I've got a cousin who has been dealing with cystic fibrosis, and J.D. Gibbs, the president of Joe Gibbs Racing, has a child going through leukemia, so these things hit home.
It just lets you know it could happen to anybody.
