Dale Sr. - 2007/03/09 15:01
Posted this on myspace, thought everyone would enjoy this:
Hey All! Great funny story and I love to tell it. The story of how I knew Dale Earnhardt Sr.
For those of you that don't really know me personally; I am the typical walking Italian stereotype. I'm short, stocky, I drive a camero, I grew up in the New Jersey and my name ends in a vowel. So all things considered, why should I know about NASCAR when I can be learning to make gravy (Italian for marinara)
Anyway, I was living in Charlotte, NC and working as a chef. While between jobs I decided to work for a temp agency for culinary pros like myself. I did odd jobs for a while and then one day I got the call.
They were looking for someone to spend three days at DEI catering the Earnhardt Christmas party. I thought to myself "Damn that's pretty cool, who the F..k is Dale Earnhardt.
Day one started pretty well, I was working for a guy name Dominick, hell in Jersey I knew alot of guys named Dominick so how bad can this be. Halfway through the day I was speaking Dinnish to an employee (That's Dishwasher / Spanish) when I noticed this unusually tall awkward looking guy with a caterpillar on his lip looking at me. He introduced himself and I thought.. "Dude I have no idea who you are". Mind you at this time I still retained this strong Yankee accent that would make Rocky proud.
I think he was struck back by the fact that I had absolutely no idea who he was and didn't care. Over the next few days, I got the personal tour of everything and it really opened my eyes to him and the sport.
A month later I moved back to the "Garden State" and I was surprised to get a call from DEI offering me a job. Since I already accepted the "manager" position at the local Pizza Hut, I turned them down.
PS. Any help getting the foot out of my ass would be greatly appreciated.
