Sad News - 2007/08/18 11:45 In the lesser known Nascar Whelen Modified Series, the Nascar Nation lost another driver on Thursday night. 33 year old John Blewett III from Howell, N.J. was involved in an accident with brother Jimmy Blewett at Thompson Motorspeedway on lap 107 of the 150 lap race. John landed on the roof of his car and was said to have died of head and neck injuries when he arrived at the hospital. It is truly sad when someone loses thier life while doing something they love. We should all say a little prayer for him and his family.

Re:Sad News - 2007/08/18 11:52 Thats a shame. My condolences goes to his family. His brother is probably more devastated but there is nothing you can do about it now. god bless the family.

Re:Sad News - 2007/08/18 22:57 Having known John III and Jimmy, and their dad John Jr, makes this a truly sad time for me personally. I worked with these fine racers during the 2002 season while stationed in Jersey. It was the Blewett family that instilled the love for the Mods in me as I was a stock car kinda guy. I truly looked forward to getting to see them every year at the North South Shooutout at Concord.

The Mods have decided that their will be no lap 66 for the rest of the season. If a race is 150 laps it will actually end on lap 151 as they will skip over lap 66.

Godspeed John John!
