Gordon says fatherhood won't be a distraction wrote by michael hill, ONMC LCP 923991 yucaipa ca chapter
Four-time NASCAR Cup champion Jeff Gordon has heard all the talk. Will parenthood dim his competitive spirit? Will pending fatherhood cut into his focus?
But he's not worried about it. The driver and his team are off to a strong start with no plans to slack off - even when Gordon is balancing new fatherhood (he's due to become a father for the first time this summer) and a championship race.
(gordon quoted to say)
"There is nothing that is going to take away from what we do as race-car drivers when we get inside that car," he said. "Honestly, I have got so many distractions already, I don't see how it could get a whole lot worse. I feel like I am lacking in sleep now, and I know that is going to get worse, but you just deal with it once you get to the race track.
Gordon was also asked what impact would this cause his ability to to drive if his baby came during a day he was racing.
(gordon further Quoted)
"There is nothing that is going to be more exciting or more motivating than to actually have an addition to my family … I would have to go back today and tell my daughter why I didn't win the race, so I want to take her to victory lane."
